Art Discussion | Sassoferrato and Balthasar Denner

  • Anthony's Fine Art & Antiques

As a final lecture before the Holidays —  lectures start again in mid January — we combine very different, yet equally compelling Forgotten Masters: the portraitist Balthasar Denner, whose works were not matched, arguably, in verisimilitude until the 20th Century; and, Giovani Battista Salvi sa Sassoreffato, known for his richly painted religious works. The lecture goes from 5:30 to 7 PM, Tuesday Dec. 13 (Heirloom Art & Co. | 4801 N. University Ave, No. 350, Provo) and Thursday Dec. 15 (Anthony’s Fine Art | 401 East 200 South, Salt Lake City.) #ForgottenMasters #ArtLectures

  • Anthony's Fine Art & Antiques

Dr. Micah Christensen (History of Art | University College London) leads a discussion with artists, collectors, and art lovers. They will discuss the work of Daniel Seghers — a pupil of the famous Jan Brueghel the Elder. Seghers collaborated with many prestigious artists, including Brueghel, Peter Paul Rubens, and Franz Snyders. His meticulous and highly symbolic paintings of flowers are staples in European Royal collections. But, by giving up painting and becoming a monk, Seghers fame eventually diminished. Join us as Dr. Christensen rediscovers the works and contribution of one of Europe's most admired still life artists.
